When Caroline and Drew booked me to photograph their wedding, they decided on a destination engagement session where they live in Denver Colorado. I was beyond excited, to get to explore the mountains and catch up with these old friends from College! Well as we all know last year had a few other curveballs in mind, and after multiple rescheduled flights and months of waiting, we finally made the trip happen! 

Of course we thought that the travel arrangements in the middle of a pandemic would be the most complicated factors… little did we know that all of our anticipated photoshoot locations would be closed the weekend of our shoot. After I spent the morning with some brutal altitude sickness, Caroline and Drew got dressed up so we could make our way up the mountains in time for a quick sunset hike to one of their favorite views. With the ongoing wildfires across Colorado we had made sure to double check the safest route. Little did we know that almost every trail nearby had been closed as a precautionary measure to allow the emergency teams to tend to the fire. 

As sunset quickly approached on my last day in Colorado before my flight home. We scrambled down the mountain, and frantically searched our GPS with spotty service, to find another location that could fulfill Caroline’s adventurous spirit and hopes of capturing Colorado’s beauty as part of their love story. With 30 minutes to spare before sunset, we stumbled upon a tiny town on the side of the highway with the perfect backdrop! 

I seriously could not be more thankful for this amazing couple for their patience and hospitality, and can not wait to celebrate their wedding day this spring! Keep scrolling to see a few favorites from Caroline and Drew’s mountain engagement!
